I was born & raised in Picture Butte, Alberta, Canada. I live on a farm just east of Turin, Alberta, Canada on the prairies just east of the Rocky Mountains where I have been ever since I got married in 1976.
I’ve enjoyed art since a very early age, took a course through correspondence for three years in high school and have basically self-taught myself through the years, other than a few one or two day courses for a little inspiration.
I work in Acrylics and recently just started trying Colored Pencils.
I was doing mainly landscapes but seemed like something was missing in my work, so I started working on equine and experimenting with other animals. We have a small herd of horses (12 or 13) at home here so I have lots of reference material and can just go out take a stroll and study the horses and they enjoy a good scratch every now and then.
Most of my work I have sold locally to family, friends and the people in surrounding communities. I have donated many to causes such as cancer, schools and community fundraising. I hate to part with many of my projects but I know that many other people enjoy and appreciate them. I joined the Lethbridge Artist Club in 2011, meeting new people and making new friends in the club.
Some of my art has been featured in the Western Art Gallery at the Calgary Stampede, Southwest Art Magazine in special advertising section and have participated in the “Heart of the West” show and sale in Bozeman, Montana. I won first in my Category in the ASASA South Zone Show in 2018 continuing on to the zone show in Drumheller, then the Spirit Show in Edmonton, Alberta. Have participated in many exhibits with Lethbridge Artists club at the CASA over the years and participated in the ASA “Best of Southern Western Alberta” exhibition at the CASA and Fish Creek Gallery in Calgary in 2018.
